Dear members of the Faculty of Medicine,
dear Dr. Wohl,
We look back today on more than five years of study time,
in which you, dear graduates, have worked hard,
which were also shaped by some self-doubt and uncertainties,
and in which you have successfully passed a multitude of written, verbal and,
above all
practical performance tests
including three state exams.
A time, I think, in which many of you as parents and relatives
have been fervently and painfully with our graduates,
and in which you have supported the young colleagues in their best interests.
All of this is behind you
and you can be very proud of what you have achieved.
To celebrate this with you is one of the beautiful tasks as a student dean for me,
and I am therefore particularly happy to welcome you all to the graduation celebration today.
The dean
Professor Neurath
has asked me to convey his heartfelt congratulations to you.
You have designed this graduation celebration in a very festive way,
and with a few hundred participants
this was certainly a great organizational challenge.
I think we should thank the student organizer, Ms. Hom,
our student coordinator, Dr.
Haag, and our student dean, represented here by Ms.
Traheim,
as well as the speaker of the Department of Dentistry, Ms. Prof. Gölz,
with a strong applause. Thank you very much.
I would also like to thank you
dear graduates
for the good cooperation.
In particular, I thank you for all your constructive criticism of the degree program
and your commitment to improving the teaching.
We teachers are also constantly learning and need your criticism,
even if sometimes it is unpleasant for both sides at first.
We would be very happy if you continued to stay connected to our faculty
but also to the university.
We live in a time when certain things are increasingly questioned.
The Russian attack on Ukraine, the conflict in the Middle East,
the increasing danger of freedom of science
especially in democratic states
but also climate change leads to fundamental uncertainties.
I think it is important to consider ethical principles in such times.
For medical and dental work, the Genfer Institute of Medicine,
Presenters
Prof. Dr. med. dent. Lina Gölz
